John O'Rourke reckons Carbery Rangers will have to improve by "30 per cent" if they are to lift the Andy Scannell Cup for the first time in their history today.

The Rosscarbery outfit face Ballincollig in a novel Cork SFC final at Pairc Ui Chaoimh with neither of them having won a county senior championship before. Carbery are appearing in their first final in 108 years, while Ballincollig are appearing in their first.

"We feel that we haven't fully performed yet," Cork star O'Rourke told the Southern Star.

"Even when we beat (holders) Castlehaven we didn't hit top gear, we played alright in the second half of the replay, but against Clonakilty we were disappointed with our performance. Against Bishopstown, myself personally I wouldn't have been happy with my performance in the first half.

"When you look at how good Ballincollig have been then we have to up our performance at least 30 per cent to beat them because they have been ultra-consistent. They have gone the hard route, they have beaten a lot of good teams that were up there with Castlehaven as favourites, and there's a strong team spirit there."
