Kernan will still be "kicking every ball"

Aaron Kernan admits it will be strange watching Armagh face either Donegal or Tyrone in next year's Ulster SFC quarter-final.

The stylish half back, who announced his inter-county retirement last week, told the Newry Democrat: "I was heading out the door to (Crossmaglen) training and I held on to watch the championship draw and that is your ultimate draw, Tyrone or Donegal in the first round in the Athletic Grounds, you can picture it being packed to the rafters and full of intensity.

"It is only natural that when the time comes I will want to be out on the pitch with the boys and I'll be kicking every ball with them, but I will be doing it from a supporter's capacity from here on in, like I did when I was younger.

"It will take some adjustment from my part but it is a game I am really looking forward to see the guys perform, regardless of who it is.

He added: "If it is Donegal then we will be looking to get one over them after this year and if Tyrone then they will be looking to get one over us, so either way there will be a huge build-up into it.

"Whoever comes through between Donegal and Tyrone will have a game under their belt but Kieran (McGeeney) knows he has plenty of time and I believe all his training between now and then will be on making sure our boys come out of the blocks flying."
