Cork SFC: Ballincollig and Carbery to meet in novel final

Cork's Patrick Kelly

There will be a novel feel to this year's Andy Scannell Cup decider after Ballincollig and Carbery Rangers defeated Nemo Rangers and Bishopstown respectively in today's semi-finals at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Ballincollig are through to their first-ever final after early goals from Cian Dorgan and John Kelly paved the way for a 2-10 to 0-9 victory over the once-mighty Nemo. They went on to lead by six points at the break, and with 2010 All-Ireland winners Paddy Kelly and John Miskella to the fore, their lead was never threatened in the second half.

In the second semi-final, Carbery Rangers outscored Bishoptown by 1-12 to 0-1 in the second half to run out emphatic 2-17 to 1-7 winners and qualify for their first Cork SFC final in 108 years.

Cork hurling captain Pa Cronin's goal helped Bishopstown to an early three-point lead, but their West Cork opponents recovered well before running amok in the second half.
