Roscommon SFC: Brigid's close in on five-in-a-row

St Brigid's Senan Kilbride

St. Brigid's are just 60 minutes away from completing a five-in-a-row of Roscommon SFC titles after accounting for Western Gaels at Hyde Park yesterday.

Last year's All-Ireland club champions recovered from a sluggish start to win by six points, 2-13 to 2-7. An upset had looked to be on the cards when Derek Moran's goal had the Frenchpark men perched on a 1-3 to 0-1 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Brigid's got themselves back into the game with points from Senan Kilbride (three), Frankie Dolan and Adrian Gleeson to leave the minimum in it at half-time.

The Kiltoom outfit underlined their superiority in the second period when Kilbride and former Garrycastle star Paddy Mulvihill fired goals before Stephen Ryan grabbed a late consolation for the Gaels.

The other semi-final between St. Faithleach's and Padraig Pearses was postponed due to a bereavement in the St. Faithleach's club.
