Clarke: Down is not the priority

Martin Clarke has not committed to rejoining the Down senior football squad.

The former All Star footballer, who helped the Mourne County reach the 2010 All-Ireland football final, has called time on his AFL career but says gaelic football is not at the top of his list of priorities.

Ex-Collingwood ace Clarke will marry finacee Anna next month and the couple are expecting their first child in January. "I'm just looking forward to getting a rest with Anna before we start the next chapter," he tells The Irish Daily Star.

"I haven't given any thought to whether I'll be coming back and playing for Down. I've been playing at the highest level for the past nine seasons in Australia and Ireland.

"I'm going back home and I have other stuff happening. I'll see where I'm at. My number one priority is Anna and the baby and getting my teaching degree.

"It's crazy to think you can just walk straight back into that set-up. We've enough to think about."
