Wicklow are on the look out for a new football manager with Harry Murphy announcing his intention to depart the role.

Murphy made his name as a hugely successful manager of Rathnew, guiding the club to a Leinster club title in 2001 and seven county titles during his time in charge.

When Mick O'Dwyer stood down as county manager in 2011, Murphy was appointed and guided the Garden County for the past three seasons.

In a statement on wicklowgaaonline.com, Wicklow county board thanked Murphy for his efforts: "Wicklow GAA would like to thank Harry for the commitment, passion and experience he brought to the County in his time as Manager.

"We've experienced some great days under his management period and wish him the very best for the future."

Wicklow lost out to Laois in the first round of the Leinster SFC this summer before beating Offaly and losing to Sligo in the qualifiers.
