Mulholland in the dark over Galway future

Alan Mulholland was non-committal about his future as Galway football manager following yesterday's defeat to Kerry.

The seven-point loss means his three-year term is now at an end, and he could neither confirm if county board chiefs wanted him to continue or if he wanted to stay on himself when addressing the media afterwards.

"I don't know, we will see," he said.

"First I will see if I am wanted. Then I will see if I want it. I won't decide just now. I'm not sure."

The general consensus is that Mulholland has made progress with the team after the short reigns of his predecessors Joe Kernan and Tomas O Flatharta. Yesterday was Galway's first appearance in an All-Ireland quarter-final since 2008 when they also lost to Kerry.
