Donegal midfielder Rory Kavanagh admits that he is not guaranteed his place in the side anymore.

Kavanagh was forced to sit out the Ulster SFC win over Derry through suspension, but he is eligible for Sunday's semi final clash against Antrim.

Donegal had a shortage of midfielders for the Derry clash, but Odhran MacNiallais and Christy Toye impressed, while Martin McElhinney and Neil Gallagher were introduced in the second half.

This leaves Donegal manager Jim McGuinness with a selection headache ahead of Sunday's match and Kavanagh is keeping his fingers crossed that he will get the nod.

"The competition at midfield is pretty keen alright which is a good thing and very positive going forward. From my perspective after the last day I will be doing well to get my place back," Kavanagh admitted the Donegal Democrat.

"Odhran MacNiallais and Christy Toye did well in the first half the last day against Derry. Martin McElhinney and Neil Gallagher came on in the second half and put in big shifts so they are also fighting for their places.

"There is definitely strength in depth for midfield so it is a matter for everyone to get the heads down in training and push hard and hope to make the team."
