Still no King for Down

Kalum King may not play for Down this year owing to increased work commitments.

The midfield powerhouse was expected to re-join James McCartan's panel following his wedding in February, but has been unable to do so after securing a promotion in work.

Bryanford boss Frank Dawson - who managed Antrim last year - confirmed to the Irish News that King hasn't played for them either since the end of last season.

"Kalum has just recently got married and he got a promotion in his job, so he also is taking a bit of time out as, you can guess, it is a busy time for him," Dawson said.

"I'm putting not pressure on Kalum at the minute and I'll allow him to get his head around his newly-married status and his work environment.

"There are a lot of demands on him for that. We are giving him a bit of breathing space. I think he has spoken to James (McCartan) about the same thing."
