Limerick hurling star Niall Moran has announced his inter-county retirement.
The 31-year-old bows out with a coveted Munster SHC medal in his possession after the Treaty County ended a 17-year wait for provincial honours this summer. The same honour eluded his older - and arguably - better-known brother Ollie, who was a mainstay of the Limerick team from 1997 and 2009.
Having been a regular starter in attack for much of his Limerick career, Moran was limited to playing a substitute's role in this year's successful campaign. As a teacher in Ardscoil Ris, he has coached a number of the current Limerick side, including Declan Hannon, Shane Dowling, Kevin Downes, Mark Carmody and Alan Dempsey.
Niall will continue to line out for his club Ahane.
