Carlow v Laois qualifier gets Friday billing

June 17, 2013

Carlow and Laois will play in the first ever Friday night championship match.
Carlow and Laois will meet in the first ever inter-county championship match to be played on a Friday night.

The neighbouring counties were paired together in this morning's All-Ireland SFC qualifier first round draw, and the CCCC has since confirmed that the game will be played at Dr Cullen Park on Friday week, June 28, with a 7.45pm throw-in.

The remaining first round qualifier games will be played on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30.

The historic move comes after Leinster Council secretary and Laois native Michael Delaney had advocated the staging of inter-county championship games on Friday and Monday nights.
