Cork captain Pa Cronin appears to be losing his battle to be fit to face Clare at the Gaelic Grounds in the Munster SHC semi-final on Sunday week.

The Bishopstown clubman is in hospital at the moment with a chest infection and is rated extremely doubtful for the last four clash.

However, selector Kieran Kingston told the Echo that they will give him every opportunity of proving his well-being before the semi-final.

"Patrick is still in hospital after a very severe chest infection. He's still recovering from it and he was due to meet a specialist yesterday for an up to date situation.

"If he is ruled out it would be a massive blow for us alongside the fact that we have already lost Paudie O'Sullivan for the entire season.

"We are still keeping our fingers crossed for Patrick but he has to be a very big doubt now.''
