Football top scorers: the chasing pack closes in on Mulligan
June 04, 2013

The scoring stakes
Leitrim's Emlyn Mulligan is still out on his own in the top scoring charts but a couple of big guns are already chasing him down.
A haul of 3-7 in Gaelic Park against New York has Mulligan out in front but Colm Cooper is now joint third in the table while Dublin's Bernard Brogan is now charting.
Westmeath's John Heslin is in second place after a second successive game tally of 0-5, once again all from placed balls.
Mulligan is still the top scorer from play with 3-2, with Kerry's James O'Donoghue joins Cavan's Martin Dunne in second place.
The Leitrim captain is the top goal scorers so far after his hat trick Stateside while Westmeath's Kieran Gavin has two goals to his name.
It will be interesting to see if Mulligan's tally of 3-7 can be bettered before the end of September as the highest individual score in a game.
