Conor Counihan contends that league positions don't count for much when it comes to the championship.

Counihan's Cork side operated three divisions above Limerick in the Allianz Football League, but he doesn't expect there to be a gulf in class when they face the Treaty County in tomorrow night's Munster SFC quarter-final at the Gaelic Grounds.

"I think the difference between all four divisions is exaggerated in many ways, and I expect we will see ample evidence of this in the championship," he said in the Corkman.

"That Limerick are the Division 4 champions makes it a big challenge in itself on Saturday night, and we have had tough games against them in the past, so I don't see them making it any easier for us this time."

The Cork manager is confident that his squad is strong enough to absorb the loss of star forward Colm O'Neill through injury.

"It's always disappointing to lose any players. But you just have to deal with it, focus on what you have, and I'm pretty confident that whatever 15 players and 10 subs we tog out will be adequately prepared to serve the jersey well," he added.
