Sunday is a red letter day in the history of Limerick club, Staker Wallace.

The small Treaty County club will mark the official opening of its fantastic facilities in Kilbreedy West, Kilmallock with a SH challenge between Limerick and Kilkenny.

Local millionaire JP McManus agreed to fund the club's new grounds when he purchased their original home close to his Martinstown mansion in 2006.

McManus has provided the club with two sand-based pitches, floodlighting and a state-of-the-art clubhouse and these facilities are regularly used by the Limerick county team for training purposes.

On Sunday, Michael O Muircheartaigh will also be on hand as will the Artane Boys Band and the Limerick and Kilkenny teams that contested the 1973 All-Ireland final.

Eamon Grimes, who captained Limerick to glory at Croke Park 40 years ago, will cut the tape and a dinner for 350 people will be held in the clubhouse on Sunday night.
