Armagh need Clarke scores - McConville

Oisin McConville reckons Jamie Clarke will need to hit 1-5 or 1-6 in each game this summer.

That's the sort of tally McConville says his former Crossmaglen team-mate will have to aspire towards if the Orchard County are to enjoy a successful championship.

Clarke has been named on the edge of the square for Armagh's Ulster SFC opener against Cavan this weekend and McConville tells The Irish Independent:

"He is capable of that and it's something that wouldn't burden him.

"I don't see Armagh playing everything through him as they have done over the last few years. They won't just continue to lump the ball in his direction.

"Under Paul Grimley they have developed ways to build from the back, and players like Stefan Forker and Tony Kernan have come into the plans more. They've done well.

"But if Jamie doesn't score that 1-5 or 1-6, I think they'll be in bother."
