All-Ireland Club JFC final: Jersey mix-up fails to halt Ballinasloe

February 24, 2013
Ballinasloe 0-14
Kenmare Shamrocks 0-10

Ballinasloe arrived in Croke Park for the All-Ireland Club JFC final minus their jerseys but that oversight was soon forgotten as the Galway outfit recorded a memorable four-point victory over Kenmare Shamrocks of Kerry.

Ballinasloe borrowed a set of jersey from the famed Dublin club Na Fianna and proceeded to establish a 0-7 to 0-4 half-time lead.

The Sean Riddell managed outfit extended their advantage to seven points when Paul Whelehan sent over their ninth successive score in the 41st minute.

Kenmare - who survived a three-game marathon semi-final against Castleknock - ended their scoring drought through the impressive Paul O'Connor.

The Kerry champions reduced the deficit to three but the celebrations began for Ballinasloe when Whelehan found the target for a late insurance point.
