Seamus Plunkett has been ratified as the new Laois senior hurling manager.

Portlaoise man Plunkett has been handed a one-year deal and will be assisted by selector Paul Cuddy (Castletown-Slieve Bloom).

Both men were originally part of the sub-committee set up to find a successor to Teddy McCarthy, whose term at the helm was marred by heavy championship defeats to Dublin and Limerick.

Former senior boss Pat Critchley will take over the Laois minor team from Plunkett, while Tony Doran retains the U21 job. Tweet
