Donegal football manager Jim McGuinness is set to take up a part-time role with Glasgow Celtic FC's Academy.

McGuinness, who steered his native county to a first All-Ireland SFC success in 20 years last September, is also set to remain on in his current role with the Tir Chonaill men and while full details of his new role with the Scottish champions are yet to emerge, it is believed that he will work with them three days a week, with his salary reported to be somewhere in the region of €150,000.

Those three days are thought to be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with assistant manager Rory Gallagher taking charge of Donegal's training sessions in his absence.

McGuinness had been linked with a move to Parkhead in the weeks after Donegal's Sam Maguire Cup triumph, which he reportedly turned down, but speculation mounted again this week when he was spotted at the club's UEFA Champions League clash with Barcelona at Celtic Park, where a historic 2-1 win over the Spanish giants may well have swayed the Naomh Chonaill man.
