Lacey leaves Limerick

Brian Lacey in action for Tipperary footballers
Brian Lacey has stepped down as coach / selector with the Limerick footballers.

Lacey was a key member of Maurice Horan's backroom team but has decided to sever his ties with the Munster county due to work commitments.

The Tipperary native, who won two Leinster SFCs and an All Star with Kildare, was finding the return journey from his Kildare home to Limerick to be too time-consuming.

The Shannonsiders enjoyed an excellent championship run this year, where they were very unfortunate to lose to an injury-time Kildare point in the Qualifiers.

And Lacey is already being mentioned as a possible future addition to the Lilywhites' management team.

Manager Horan confirmed the departure in The Limerick Leader: "I am very grateful for what he brought to the table. He brought great energy and enthusiasm to the set-up.

"Based on his own playing career he brought great self belief. He was a player that achieved a lot and he brought that across to the players."
