Carlow SFC final: Eire Og are back
October 15, 2012
Éire Óg 0-15
Palatine 0-5
Eire Og won their first Carlow SFC title since 2008 and their 27th in all following a comfortable victory over Palatine at Dr Cullen Park.
Palatine never got going in a game which their town opponents dominated from the off. Murtagh Ware and team captain Sean Gannon were outstanding at midfield, while right half forward Bryan Carbery scored three points from play in an excellent second half performance.
The writing was on the wall for Palatine when they trailed by 0-4 to 0-7 at half-time, despite having played with wind advantage in the opening half. Eire Og tightened their grip on proceedings as the second half wore on. Both sides finished with 14 players after Alan O'Brien (Eire Og) and John Reid (Palatine) were both sent off on straight red cards.
