Dublin-Mayo heading for a sell out

The 'full house' sign is expected to be put up outside Croke Park on Sunday after a dramatic surge in ticket sales in the past 24 hours.

GAA operations manager Fergal McGill said yesterday that he didn't expect the attendance for the Dublin-Mayo All-Ireland semi-final to exceed 70,000, but that figure has already been surpassed when premium and corporate box ticket holders are taken into account.

Speaking to The Evening Herald, a Croke Park spokesperson attributed the huge demand for tickets to last Sunday's terrific first All-Ireland semi-final between Donegal and Cork.

"There has been a knock-on effect. Donegal are already in the final and it seems to have focused the minds of the supporters of the teams in Sunday's match," the spokesperson said.

The GAA is confident that the remaining 8,000 tickets - which went on sale this morning - will be snapped up between now and Sunday, meaning there should be an attendance of over 80,000 at GAA headquarters.

Croke Park's biggest attendance so far this year was for the Leinster football final between Dublin and Meath on July 22 which attracted 69,957 spectators.
