Armagh GAA legend Professor Emeritus Joseph Cunningham has passed away at the age of 81.
The Armagh city native helped the Orchard County to their first-ever All-Ireland minor title in 1949 and was a member of the Armagh side that faced Kerry in the 1953 All-Ireland SFC final.
An elegant forward who was slick and deceptive in possession, Joseph Cunningham won a number of county SFCs with Armagh Harps in the '50s and was part of the Ulster combination that defeated Munster in the 1956 Railway Cup final.
His playing career was cut short when he left his native county to take up a teaching post in Cork, where he was a lecturer at Cork University.
