Goalkeeper nets hat trick before emigration

Waterford's Adrian Power
Ballyduff Upper goalkeeper Adrian Power signed off in emphatic style by scoring a hat trick of goals in a SHC match.

Power has departed to the U.S for the foreseeable future and looks set to miss the rest of his club's senior hurling championship campaign.

However, he left his mark before leaving by scoring three goals in his side's defeat to Dungarvan at Fraher Field last weekend.

The former county panellist scored a penalty and two 20 metre frees to earn his hat trick and become what is believed to be the first goalkeeper to score three goals in a championship match.

Amazingly, this is not the first time that Power has achieved such a feat when he was a student of Fermoy Vocational School, Power lined out for Cork v. Tipperary in an All-Ireland VEC game and hit three goals from his number one spot.
