Bradley rues missed opportunity

Antrim football manager Liam Bradley
Liam Bradley was in no doubt that his Antrim team left victory behind them in Clones yesterday.

The Saffrons led by three points midway through the second half, yet ended up losing by three after a wasteful performance.

"It's hard to take defeat here. It's a great we should have won. We weren't even thinking about the qualifiers, we were thinking about an Ulster title," he said.

"We thought we were in the right half of the draw to get to an Ulster final, but it's not going to happen. Most of the lads can hold their heads up, but we're just utterly, utterly disappointed because that is a game that we definitely should have won.

"I'd be a wee bit disappointed that we had two or three scoreable frees that we didn't take at crucial stages of the game. But that's championship football and Monaghan were more economical with their chances and they made them count."
