Freeman could start against Saffrons

Tommy Freeman could be a late addition to the Monaghan team for tomorrow's Ulster SFC quarter-final against Antrim.

The 2007 All Star was expected to miss the Clones clash along with Darren Hughes, Owen Lennon and Neil McAdam due to a hamstring injury he picked up in a challenge match three weeks ago, but Farney boss Eamonn McEneaney hasn't completely ruled him out.

"Tommy is not out totally. I didn't have him last year because he was away (in America) so the fact that he's here is a bonus," he is quoted as saying in The Irish Examiner.

"Tommy is a class act. It is only when you actually work with Tommy that you realise how good he is and how good he can be. His attitude is top class, he's got that hunger back."

McEneaney is delighted to welcome back another key forward, Conor McManus, who is missed Monaghan's Allianz League campaign which culminated in a second successive relegation.

"I have no doubt that if we'd had Conor and Tommy available for all seven league games we would have gone the other direction because they are that good. Three weeks is not a long time (for Freeman) to get over a tweaked hamstring. I would love to have him in top class fitness but he is there and he is in with a shout."
