Treaty duo in fitness battle

Limerick's Stephen Kelly
Limerick boss Maurice Horan will give Jim Donovan and Stephen Kelly as much time as possible to prove their fitness ahead of Sunday's Munster SFC quarter-final against Waterford at the Gaelic Grounds.

Midfielder Donovan is struggling with a hamstring injury, while pacey attacker Kelly has a knee problem. With John Galvin ruled out after suffering a recurrence of his cruciate ligament injury last month, the Treaty men can ill-afford to be without Donovan, though Tom Lee's recent return from Australia gives them another option at midfield.

"Both Stephen and Jim are crucial for us and we are keeping our fingers crossed that they will be okay to play some part," Horan told The Irish Independent.

"We'll leave it as late as possible to make the decision, but we are hopeful that they can have some involvement."

Mike Sheehan is also expected to come into contention for a starting place following his recent return from the US where he had study commitments.
