Hyland sees no short-term fix

Cavan senior football manager Terry Hyland
Terry Hyland says restoring pride in Cavan football will be a long-term project.
The Breffni Blues have shown their potential with great performances at minor and U21 levels in recent seasons but new senior boss Hyland admits in The Irish Daily Star that this doesn't guarantee instant success at the highest level.
As his charges prepare to host holders Donegal in the first round of the Ulster SFC on Sunday, Hyland notes:
"It probably has to be a long-term project. We couldn't keep doing the same thing we've been doing in Cavan for the last 25 or 30 years, and it wasn't working.
"You had to look at something completely different. Who is to know if this is going to work or not?
"Of course it's a challenge. Everything you do in life is a challenge.
"We went through the Celtic Tiger years and the whole challenge now is how we reinvent ourselves as a nation - we don't want to make our underage success out Celtic Tiger years. We want to build on that.
"Underage titles don't mean you are going to get anything down the line. We've seen lots of teams perform well at underage level and it doesn't happen for them at senior level."
