Mulholland: defeat wouldn't be disastrous

Galway football manager Alan Mulholland
Alan Mulholland insists Galway's clash with Roscommon is not the be all and end all.

The sides will collide in an intriguing Connacht SFC quarter-final at Dr Hyde Park this Sunday and Tribe boss Mulholland accepts that defeat is always a possibility against the Rossies:

"We are 33/1 to win the All-Ireland, so that is where we are, and second favourites to win Connacht," he says in The Irish Daily Mirror.

"When Galway were at their best in 1998, we struggled to beat Roscommon, and in 2001 we lost to Roscommon. I think we are progressing, but who knows how things are going to go in 'the Hyde'?

"Even when we were very good, we found it hard to beat them. So, regardless of how it goes on Sunday, if we don't win it is not necessarily a disaster.

"We have not beaten a team outside Connacht in six or seven years in the championship. What we have to do this year is make incremental steps for next year and make sure over the next two or three years that we are going ahead each year."
