Offaly SHC: Coolderry open with a draw

Beaten All-Ireland finalists Coolderry were held to a 1-17 to 2-14 draw by Kilcormac/Killoughey in the first round of the Offaly SHC on Friday night.
Meanwhile, former kingpins Birr cruised to a 1-17 to 1-8 victory over Belmont with U21 players Thomas Bolger, Colm Mulroney and Sean T O'Connor scoring 1-10 between them. Shinrone, who currently top Division 1 of the league, maintained their recent good form when they powered to a 4-14 to 0-10 win over Drumcullen.
In yesterday's double-header at O'Connor Park, Gary Kelly inspired St. Rynagh's to a 0-12 to 0-7 win over Tullamore, while last year's intermediate champions Brosna Gaels defeated local rivals Shamrocks 2-13 to 1-9. In Lusmagh, county star Joe Bergin hit two late points as Seir Kieran secured a 1-11 each draw with Kinnitty.
