McCarthy takes Cork junior reins

May 09, 2012
Kinsale's Paul McCarthy will manage Cork in this year's Munster JFC.

McCarthy, who is also involved with the Cork U16s, was appointed to the role at last night's county board meeting following Niall Kelleher's resignation for personal reasons. McCarthy, who had served as a selector under Kelleher, has been replaced in that role by 1989 and '90 All-Ireland winning midfielder Danny Culloty, who is currently managing Newmarket.

During his three years as a selector, McCarthy won All-Irelands last year and in 2009, when Mossie Barrett was at the helm. The Rebels will begin the defence of their Munster and All-Ireland crowns against either Kerry or Tipperary on June 10.
