Setanta's cruciate woe

May 07, 2012
Setanta O hAilpin's AFL season is in doubt after he suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury against his former club Carlton yesterday.

The 2002 Young Hurler of the Year was playing for his new club Greater Western Sydney when he went down in the third quarter of their 67-point defeat to the Melbourne outfit at Docklands. Scans earlier today confirmed the damage and the club said the 29-year-old will meet surgeons later in the week to determine how best to proceed.

The injury completes a miserable weekend for the O hAilpin family, with older brother Sean Og being part of the Cork side that suffered a crushing Allianz Hurling League final loss to Kilkenny yesterday.
