Ulster U21FC: Tyrone march past Down

April 05, 2012

Caolan Daly gets in his shot as Down's Michael Clake and Ryan McAleenan close in during the Ulster U21 semi final at Casement Park
Tyrone eased to a 0-16 to 1-8 win over Down at Casement Park in this Cadbury Ulster U21FC semi-final.

The visitors looked slick and decisive in the first half as nine brilliant scores from play propelled them to a 0-9 to 0-4 interval advantage.

Donal O'Hare's wonderful 49th-minute goal seemed to offer the Mourne County a lifeline but Raymond Munroe's charges redoubled their efforts to win comfortably.

Substitute Peter Mallon and Conor McAliskey (from a '45') clipped over the closing scores as Down were left to rue ten wides.

Darren McCurry was top scorer for Tyrone, who now meet holders Cavan in a repeat of last year's provincial decider.
