Ciaran Kilkenny, an outstanding dual player at minor level for Dublin last year, scored a total of 1-7 to cap a brilliant performance in this Cadbury Leinster U21 FC decider.
Kilkenny had the ball in the Louth net after a minute. Dublin went in at the interval 1-7 to 0-4 ahead.
With fifteen minutes gone in the opening period Louth were well in contention only 1-3 to 0-4 in arrears. Dublin tagged on four more points to retire at the break six points ahead. It could have been more but for three superb saves from Louth keeper Joe Flanagan.
Dublin playing against the wind in the second half had the game in the bag after ten minutes. Kilkenny was outstanding in this period and kicked five unanswered points to put the winners 1-12 to 0-6 up. Both sides introduced all their subs as the clock ran down and Dublin ran out convincing winners.
