Leinster U21FC: Louth in 50-point canter
March 01, 2012
Louth 6-35
Kilkenny 0-2
Kilkenny football hit a new low in Ballyragget last night when they shipped a 50-point defeat from Louth in a farcical Cadbury Leinster U21FC opener.
Colin Kelly's Louth did as they pleased to set up a quarter-final meeting with Longford next week. The game was over as a contest by the 10th minute when Ruairi Moore's goal helped the visitors to a 1-8 to 0-0 lead.
Louth went on to lead by a staggering 1-21 to 0-0 at half-time and Kilkenny - who had only 15 players available for the game - had to wait until the 33rd minute for their opening score from a Brian Byrne free. The winners emptied the bench in the second half and had no fewer than 14 players on the scoresheet by time the slaughter was complete.
