Mayo star Conor Mortimer is all set for a switch to Dublin club Parnells

Mortimer has already played for his club Shrule/Glencorrib in the 2011 Mayo championship, thus ruling out the possibility of playing with the city club this season. Parnells meet St. Sylvesters in the next round of the Dublin senior championship.

He joins a long list of rural players who have moved to Parnells in recent years. Colm Parkinson transferred back to Portlaoise but other Laois players on the Coolock/ Artane clubs books include Colm Begley, MJ Tierney and Darren Rooney.

Also wearing the Parnells jersey are Armaghs Johnny Murtagh and Wexford star Aindreas Doyle.

Speaking to Frank Roche of the Evening Herald, Parnells club chairman Frank Gleeson confirmed that Mortimers transfer was imminent and that the Mayo sharpshooter, who has recently finished his education, would from next January onwards be employed in the clubs new complex.

All Ireland final hero Stephen Cluxton is another Parnells star while the current manager is former Dublin selector and Galway player Brian Talty.
