True blue Tony can't get a ticket

September 16, 2011
One of Dublin's best-known and most colourful supporters is facing the prospect of missing his first game involving the Dubs in 72 years because he can't get a ticket for Sunday's All-Ireland final.

Eighty-year-old Tony Broughan from Cabra, who dresses up as Molly Malone for every game and carries a fake Sam Maguire, has been reduced to tears because of the severe shortage of tickets for the big Dublin-Kerry clash.

"I have never seen him crying," Tony's daughter Audrey Fitzpatrick told the Irish Daily Star.

"It's an absolute disgrace. My dad has gone to every game and is totally devastated at the thought he is missing this one."

Tony has been dressing up as Molly Malone for 30 years and has vowed to dress up as the Dublin icon again on Sunday, regardless of whether he gets to go to the game or not.
