The Mark McGovern Support Fund has orgainsed a week long Golf Classic in Blacklion Golf Club, Co. Cavan from Sunday 21st August - Sunday 28th August. It is a 4 Person Team Event, Entry is €100 per team with prizes including All Ireland Final Football & Hurling Tickets. Mark and his father Danny have been lifelong members in Blacklion and the club have decided to run a week long event to help raise the much needed funds for Mark as he strives to make a full recovery.

As you may or may not be aware, Mark McGovern, a 22year old footballer from the Belcoo O'Rahillys GAA Club in Co. Fermanagh suffered a severe head injury on the 25th June during a Gaelic match for the Ulster GAA Club in San Francisco. This week Mark will enter his 8th week in the San Francisco General Hospital, he has came through a liver complain, the MRSA super bug and a bout of pneumonia while he was in a coma. Thankfully Mark has now regained consciousness and he has been moved to the Rehabilition end of the Hospital as he begins his recovery. Mark is undergoing intense rehab therapies each day to help him recover. He is showing admirable strength and determination, even when asked is he tired he still pushes on regardless. Mark is going through speech therapy, occupational therapy and physio therapy amongst many more.

A Support Fund was set up in Mark's name to aid the extensive medical bills, rehabilitation and physio expenses that have already occurred in America and will continue to occur as Mark fights to make a full recovery. He has an extremely long and difficult road ahead but the continued support he has received from people on this island and further afield has been overwhelming. The goodwill messages of support, along with generous donations to the Support Fund are very much appreciated, especially when you consider the current economic climate we find ourselves in.
