O'Neill receives dreaded cruciate confirmation

April 01, 2011

Cork's Colm O'Neill
Cork forward Colm O'Neill will miss the rest of the 2011 league and championship season after confirmation that he has damaged his cruciate ligament.

O'Neill sustained the injury during the win over Galway two weeks ago and after initial scans proved inconclusive, subsequent tests revealed the extent of the injury.

The Ballyclough clubman - who suffered a similar injury three years ago - will now begin the process of rehabilitation.

But with the All-Ireland final now less than six months away, it would appear highly unlikely that the 22-year-old will play no part in the Rebels' title defence.
