Louth footballer Aaron Hoey is to become a referee.

The versatile St Brides clubman made his 150th competitive appearance for the Wee County in this year's O'Byrne Cup final and will turn his attention to refereeing once he hangs up his playing boots.

Hoey's name was on the referee's list ratified at Louth County Board's monthly meeting in Cooley last Monday night.

He will undertake the requisite training course and could start refereeing as soon as 2012. Tweet
