Connolly is new Mayo hurling boss

January 13, 2011
Mayo have appointed Galway native Murt Connolly as the county's new senior hurling manager.

The Castlegar clubman takes over in the role from Martin Brennan, who was in charge for the past four seasons and guided the team to back-to-back Christy Ring Cup semi-finals in 2008 and 2009.

Connolly, who won an All-Ireland club title in 1980, is an uncle of Mayo full-back and current captain Aiden Connolly.

Mayo will commence their 2011 on February 13 when they take on Roscommon in Division 3B of the National League, by which time he will have hoped to appoint new selectors following the stepping down of Pete Finnerty at the end of last season.
