No increase in ticket prices

The GAA has no plans to increase its ticket prices in 2011 according to president Christy Cooney.

Ticket prices have remained the same since 2007 with attendance figures having held firm, despite the onset of the recession. And the good news for fans is that the GAA plans to make more group passes available in the coming year.

"I made a commitment that I didn't see an increase in prices," Cooney told The Irish Daily Star.

"We review them every year, but there's no plan of increasing the prices of going to matches. There'll be no increase in the price of National Leagues, no increase in our tickets throughout the championships.

"And we'll continue to look at new packages to make it attractive for our patrons to come to our games. That has worked and it was reflected in our attendances.

"The perfect example of that is International Rules - we charged EUR25 and EUR15, stand and terrace for a double header in Croke Park and it was EUR5 for children. That's a very attractive package and that's why we priced it that way. We wanted to get people in.

"We don't want to price our patrons away and, in fact, we want to do the exact opposite."
