Carlow Centre of Excellence given seal of approval

September 02, 2010
The Carlow GAA Centre of Excellence project at Fenagh can go ahead as planned following a decision by An Bord Pleanala to grant planning permission to the Carlow County Board.

The County Board had previously been approved planning permission for the Eur3.5m venture, and a four-week window for appeals passed without a hitch.

The Centre of Excellence is scheduled to include a range of state-of-the-art facilities, including three floodlit GAA pitches.

County Board chairman Pat Deering told the Nationalist: "It looks like, weather permitting, that we'll cut the first sod in late September, early October. The target, and we're well on target, is to have it ready to use in spring/summer 2012."
