Monroe wary of Rebels

Tyrone minor manager Raymond Monroe
Tyrone minor boss Raymond Monroe has said that his side will have to be at their very best if they are to claim a second ESB All-Ireland MFC title in three years.

The Red Hands will collide with Cork on September 19 at Croke Park after the Rebels mounted an epic comeback against Galway to overturn a nine-point deficit last Sunday and book their place in the final alongside the Ulster champions.

"I was very impressed," Monroe said of Cork's performance.

"It was one of those days that goals seemed easy to come by and Cork got through the posts for points as well. They were very impressive, very strong up front, and very strong driving forward.

He added: "When that fifth goal went in for Galway, any team would have dropped their heads, but Cork never really panicked.

Last Sunday was not the first of Cork's big comebacks this summer and Monroe knows that his charges will gave to battle to the very end if they are to regain the Tom Markham Cup two weeks from Sunday.

"They'll believe in themselves and they'll know the sort of character that's there within themselves," he said.

"They have done it before, so they will be confident they can try to retrieve it again if they need to. So we will have to be at our best if we want to be All-Ireland champions."
