O Se shouldn't be punished - Kelly

Limerick attacker Stephen Kelly believes that Tomas O Se should not be punished on the strength of video evidence.

Highlights from television coverage of Sunday's Munster SFC final at Killarney showed O Se tangling with Kelly in three separate incidents, with an apparent elbow to the jaw likely to warrant a suspension for the Kerry All Star from Croke Park's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC).

Kelly, however, doesn't believe any further action than the yellow card distributed by Westmeath referee Pat Fox during the game should be taken against O Se.

"It's getting to the stage where every little incident is being highlighted now," Kelly told the Irish Daily Star.

"They are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. In the championship the hits go in and you have to role with them. I feel that if referees didn't take any action at the time that everyone should just move on.

"Limerick aren't going to benefit if Tomas O Se gets suspended and I wouldn't like to see him suspended - the referee dealt with it as he saw fit at the time," he added.

Kelly also explained that he was glad to shake his opponent's hand after the full-time whistle.

"Once you cross the line it's championship pace and championship intensity and that's what happens. I was happy to shake his hand afterwards," he said.

"Tomas might have been a bit reckless, but I wouldn't be in favour of going back over it. There are individual battles throughout the field and I don't think it's fair to see a player being hit with trial media."
