Derry wing back Charlie Kielt is facing a lengthy lay-off with a serious knee injury.

Kielt, who had made a big impression during the league in his debut season for the Oak Leaf County, sustained the injury in the dying moments of Kilrea's clash with Slaughtmanus last Sunday.

It is feared that he may have torn a cruciate ligament. The results of a scan will confirm the full extent of the damage.

Regardless of what the scan shows, Kielt will definitely miss his club's SFC meeting with Swatragh this weekend and is unlikely to play any part in the Ulster championship opener against Armagh.
