Tipperary football manager John Evans
Tipp football boss John Evans has hailed his players for beating Meath.
The Premier County demonstrated tremendous heart to record a stunning 1-9 to 0-10 victory over the Royals in Thurles last Sunday afternoon and the players were afforded a prolonged standing ovation after the final whistle.
Evans beamed: "This is another huge victory for this young, committed team and I am so proud of them.
"Remember, Meath are not near championship form, but it is great to get a win over them.
"Barry's goal from the penalty gave us a huge boost when we badly wanted it and we held our nerve very well under pressure late in the game.
"We are still learning and have a lot to learn but this was a great victory for a young team full of character, and unified in their approach and attitude."
