O'Rourke praises Forker

Paddy O'Rourke was singing Stefan Forker's praises after his four-point haul in Armagh's NFL Division 2 victory over Kildare.

The Maghery clubman was only called up because of an injury to Ronan Clarke, but made the most of his chance, prompting his manager to say: "I am sure Stefan will take a lot of confidence from that today.

"He was away with Jordanstown during the McKenna Cup and we really didn't get using him, and it has taken him a wee while longer maybe to get a place. He has kicked four points and you can't ask much more than that from him."

Kildare selector Niall Carew didn't mince his words after the defeat.

"This was as poor if not worse than the Down game," said Carew, who spoke to the press on behalf of Kieran McGeeney, who was returning to the Orchard County for the first time since becoming Kildare manager.

"Even though Down beat us by 11 points in Newbridge, you couldn't argue if Armagh went on to win this game by 15 or 16 points, they kicked wide after wide as well.

"I don't think we kicked too many wides. Just a performance that we're not happy with. It wasn't a performance at all."
