No GOAL challenge for Kerry

September 21, 2009
Kerry have declined to play in the annual GOAL challenge match, which could have raised EUR30,000 for charity. GOAL chief John O'Shea has privately expressed his disappointment at the Kingdom's decision not to play in the traditional charity fund-raiser. A press release issued by O'Shea before yesterday's All-Ireland final pointed out that in the event of Cork winning, they would play a challenge against Nemo Rangers at Pairc Ui Rinn on Wednesday night in aid of the charity's work among the "poorest of the poor" in the developing world. It added: "Should Kerry triumph, there won't be any GOAL challenge this year."
