Leinster SFC: O'Mahonys cruise into last four
November 09, 2008
O'Mahony's goal scorer Kevin Reilly
Navan O'Mahonys 1-17
Castledaly 0-4
Navan O'Mahony's booked their place in the semi-finals of the Leinster SFC with ease yesterday as they blew away Westmeath opponents Castledaly by 16 points at Pairc Tailteann, Navan.
The Meath champions were six points in front before Castledaly had their first score of the match through centre-forward Michael Duffy after 18 minutes of play.
The visitors could well have been back into things just before the break had MJ McLoughlin's goal effort hit the net, but instead it was the winners who secured the game's only green flag moments before the interval.
A quick free allowed full-back Kevin Reilly to net low past James Kinihan and hand the Royal side into an eight-point lead at the break.
David Bray helped O'Mahonys strike four early points at the restart, and from there was simply no coming back for Castledaly as they would only muster one score throughout the entire second-half hour with eight minutes to go, which would never be enough to save them from this trouncing.
The win means O'Mahony's now meet Dublin champions, and provincial favourites, Kilmacud Crokes in a mouth-watering last four clash.
